We usually time the annual test in April after the new FYE patrol crosses over and in preparation for all water activities. This keeps the whole troop in-sync.
For Safe Swim Defense and Safety afloat we need to know who is a Swimmer, Beginner or Non-Swimmer. Non-Swimmer’s will need to be paired with an Adult in a canoe for Ft Desoto next weekend. If you are new to the troop you must take the test so we can status you.
TEST: Will be conducted in a swim lane at the pool.
You will jump in feet first and rise to the service. Then proceed down the lane, then return to start, then continue down the lane. These three legs can be done by any stroke (crawl, breast, side, etc) except the Elementary Backstroke. The last leg must be the Elementary Backstroke and then when you return to start, float on your back for a minute with minimal movement.
