It’s that time of year again—our annual troop swim test is coming up!
Whether you’re knocking out your swim classification for the year, preparing for summer camp, or just looking for a good time in the water, this is a great opportunity to get it done in a fun, supportive environment. We’ll have designated lanes and plenty of space to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Cost: $8 per person (covers lane rental)
Below are the official BSA swim classification requirements:
Swimmer Test (Full Qualification):
- Jump feet first into water over your head
- Level off and begin swimming
- Swim 75 yards using strong strokes (sidestroke, breaststroke, trudgen, or crawl)
- Then swim 25 yards using a resting backstroke
- Must swim 100 yards continuously with at least one sharp turn
- Finish by resting while floating
Beginner Test:
- Jump feet first into water over your head
- Level off and swim 25 feet
- Stop, turn sharply, and return to the starting point
Non-Swimmer:
- Anyone who does not complete the beginner or swimmer test will be classified as a non-swimmer
