Updated on May 2nd

Here are a few things to be aware of, and be prepared for, as we approach summer camp from June 6 – June 12.

PREPARING FOR CAMP
There are 5 “Adirondack Style” cabins in campsite 19, where we will be staying during summer camp.  These typically hold 10 Scouts, but due to COVID-19 protocols, we will assign 5 scouts to each cabin based on their patrols and ask older scouts to solo camp in their own tents.  If you prefer that your son solo camp in their own tent in lieu of staying in a cabin, we are glad to make that accommodation.  Please communicate this to me and prepare to provide them with their own tent to set up.  I will send out a roster later this month identifying cabin campers and tent campers.
Effective June 1st, 2021, there will be no more mattresses in any campsite. This includes the Scoutmaster rooms. Please bring your own sleeping pad.
  • Scouts should refer to their Boy Scout Handbook page 268 for the Personal Camping Gear Checklist, as they prepare for summer camp.  All meals will be served in the dining hall, so “mess kits” are NOT required.  Pack in a contico box with combination lock. BRING BATTERY POWERED FAN(S)!
  • FOR HYDRATION, EVERY SCOUT MUST HAVE A WATER BOTTLE WITH THEM AT ALL TIMES DURING CAMP.  LEADERS WILL BE MONITORING THIS CLOSELY.
  • REQUIRED CLOTHING FOR CLIMBING MERIT BADGE: Pants or shorts made of cotton type material, hard sole shoes.  Also, PERSONAL GEAR REQUIRED: Merit Badge book and worksheet http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Climbing.pdf , water bottle or hydration pack, bug spray and sun block.
  • Please review the your class schedule from my previous email on May 2nd to see what merit badges you are signed up for and review the following program guide to see which requirements are not completed at summer camp. https://scoutingevent.com/Download/08372707/OR/2021_Program_Guide_v13.pdf
  • Please also review specific requirements for each merit badges here: https://www.scouting.org/programs/scouts-bsa/advancement-and-awards/merit-badges/
  • ALL PAYMENTS FOR CAMP MUST BE PAID IN FULL ($350) TO FINANCE NO LATER THAN TUESDAY MAY 25, 2021.  As you make payments, please bring me your “yellow receipt slips”.
DEPARTURE
  • We will meet at Keeth Elementary School beginning at 9am to check in, load conticos, turn in medicines and spending money and get vehicle assignments.  PLEASE NOTE:  WE WILL NEED SOME DRIVERS TO AND FROM CAMP.  I will determine how many seats are in the vehicles of the leaders who will be attending camp, then I will communicate how many remaining seats we need.
  • No Scout cell phones at camp.  They will turn them in upon arrival, if they bring them.  If you need to reach your Scout while he is at camp, please reach out to me (Eric) or Jeramy Gatza – Refer to the phone numbers sent to the email on May 2nd from Eric.
In the meantime, I hope everyone has a strong finish to their school year!

Updated on April 11th

As we prepare for summer camp, we realize that the FYE scouts have been very active and will have completed most or all of the requirements for their Scout and Tenderfoot ranks.

1. stay in Pathfinder (Scout/Tenderfoot) program to reinforce the material
OR
2. choose from available merit badges with the following availability as of 4/11/21:
