Program: Scout Skills
Program Patrol: Vipers
COVID-19 restrictions have been bumped up at Ft Desoto from 25 campers to 50 campers. Wahoo!!!
The Campsite:
- We will be sharing with another group so lets shine with our following of the Scout Laws.
- The parking is tight there which means we may have to park in an overflow area or at the Boat Ramp across the street.
- The site is tree covered and in some cases very little air movement under the tree canopy.
- No electricity at the site.
- Bathrooms with flush toilets onsite.
- Outdoor cold water showers are there.
- Canoes will be there, you have a kayak and can transport it, you may bring it.
- When in the canoes there is no shade, make sure you have sun-screen, hats, sunglasses. And MOST OF ALL WATER. You will probably be taking ziplock bags with your lunch with you in the canoes.
- You should have water shoes for in the water activities. Lots of shell bed/sand so walking barefoot is guaranteed to cause cuts on your feet.
- If we have scouts who bring fishing gear, the troop will buy bait for them to use.
- There is a Civil War fort on the island which is through the park entrance, each car load is $5. Our camping location is outside the park entrance.
