There will be a summer camp gear overview hosted by Mr. Pennington and the Troop Guides this coming Tuesday (05/07/2024) at 6:30pm before the court of honor.

This is considered mandatory for all FYE and first time summer campers. All others are welcome to attend as a refresher. This is applicable to both LNC and Powhatan camps.

Updates from Jeramy – 03/25/2024

Reminder that Powhatan summer camp payments are due Tuesday, 03/26 at the end of the troop meeting. We need to settle our balance with camp to ensure we do not get charged late fees.

If you cannot make the meeting to settle with finance, please pay via Paypal (fees are included already).

Updates from Scoutmaster – 02/21/2024

I was asked questions about the $700 fee for Powhatan. Everyone needs to keep in mind this is a working number that may adjust depending on options for transportation, white water rafting, etc. So at this time we are collecting $700 per person based on what we know at this time as we have basic camp fees etc that need to be paid soon and cash flow for the trip is available when we need to make payments, deposits, etc.

That number is the anticipated cost and is a working number. If expenses come in less, then we would refund to the scout account.

Basic Camp Fees for Powhatan are $465, unless you pay in full by April 1st then it’s $435. Other high adventure options may have higher costs (I.e. New River Adventure). Mr Gatza can confirm those fees.

There are variable costs that make up the difference. Depending on the mix of people going and the vehicles available, the potential of renting vans is in play. At this time, transportation/rental vans are part of the $700. We also reimburse the trailer puller for gas.

Updates from Jeramy – 02/18/2023

Troop Cost for Powhatan is $700. Deposit of $150 is due ASAP in order to reserve your scouts classes. Remaining balance of $550 is due no later than March 26, 2024. Be cognizant some classes/activities have additional fees which will result in a total cost above $700. Balances paid after March 26th will incur $50 late fee.

There are three choices for the program day:

  • 5-Period Merit Badge Program
  • New River Adventure Program
  • Brown Sea Island First Year Program

Merit Badge Program

The daytime experience schedule is 5 periods with three before lunch and 2 after.
Note that activities can range from 1-3 periods in length and will affect the total number of activities a scout can sign up for.

New River Adventure Program

Camp Powhatan also has an adventure program, New River Adventure (NRA) in which you do high adventure activities each day instead of merit badge classes. This program has extra fees depending on your activity choices.

Brown Sea Island First Year Program

Brown Sea Island is for first-year campers. Participants will camp with the rest of their unit but will have their own
daily activities.

It will be  Week 4 – Saturday July 6th to Sunday July 14th.
