Register Camp Thunder via TroopMaster
Camp Thunder is Troop 787’s annual cold-weather camping trip in North West Georgia in Martin Luther King weekend. Last year we saw snow flurries, so it does get chilly. The FYE’s (and many of the older patrols) backpack into back country to camp the first night, then return to base camp for the second night.
Activities:
Climbing Tower, Rifle, Shotgun, Archery and Mountain Bike – Prices are in the registration page

Notes:
- Thursday Evening 1/12: Truck to be loaded with all Troop and personal gear.
- Friday 1/13: At the driver’s discretion, departure may be in the morning if you wish to travel directly to Thunder, or in the evening should you wish to stop-over at Camp Osborne to spend the night in their dining hall, and complete the journey to Thunder Saturday morning.
- Saturday 1/14: After the entire Troop has arrived in Base Camp at Camp Thunder, all patrols and corresponding adult leaders are encouraged to spend Saturday night in the backcountry, by hiking to one of many primitive camp sites within Camp Thunder’s property.
- Sunday 1/15: All patrols camping in the backcountry return to Base Camp and have the option to attend one of several Camp activities (i.e. Climbing, Rifle Shooting, Shot Gun Shooting, Archery, etc…) that will be monitored and run by Thunder’s Camp Staff, from 12pm to 5pm. In the evening, the Truck will be packed-up and the boys will attend a movie night in the Dining Hall, where they can set-up their sleeping bags & pads for a night in the warmth.
- Monday 1/16: Troop Departs Thunder and Returns to unload the truck at our new Black Hammock storage site. Once the truck is unloaded and all Troop equipment has been stored properly, the Senior Patrol Leader will dismiss the Troop to go home.
