Program: Primitive Cooking
Program Patrol: Swarming Yellow Jackets
Troop 787 will be camping at Mutual Mine and learn primitive cooking. This campout will have you cooking like Mr Fogg and some of the other oldies did when we were scouts. It’s a lot of fun and you will learn many tricks of how to cook outdoors.
Here is some information about the campout:
- Mutual Mines allows ground fires so we can do “primitive cooking” activities.
- Patrols only have to do Grub for Saturday and Sunday Breakfast.
- The primitive cooking involves Lunch and Dinner being provided by the cooking we will be doing during the day.
- The permission slip prices reflects with the base fee covering the camping fees, trailer towing reimbursement and food for all for lunch and dinner.
What are we cooking:
- Eggs, blueberry muffins and brownies in orange peels
- Bacon and eggs in a paper bag
- Cakes, etc in a cardboard box
- Grilling over the open fire: chicken and dumplings, BBQ chicken
- Pizzas in the Dutch oven
- Beef stew
- Flank steak, coated with mustard on one side, placed on the coals mustard side down
- Fried spam and potatoes
- Cornish Game Hens or Turkey for dinner
