Maintain six-foot separation entering and exiting the pool area. Only adults supervising the swim test or testing may enter the pool area.

  • Non-swimmers need not be tested or attend, but are welcomed to if they wish to attempt the beginner test.  Non-swimmers will be limited to waist/chest deep water.
  • Beginners must jump in feet first to water over their head, swim 25 feet out and back.  Beginners will then be limited to water depths just over their heads, unless wearing a PFD.
  • Swimmers must jump in feet first, swim 75 yards using a crawl, sidestroke, trudgeon or breaststroke, swim the next 25 yards using a resting, easy backstroke and then float on your back with little motion.  This is not a race.  There is no time requirement to finish, but no stopping is allowed.  Swimmer depth will then be limited to 12 feet in clear water and 8 feet in turbid water.  Anything deeper will require PFDs.
